Immediately after her wealthy husband’s funeral, his stepmother dropped his 10-year-old son off on an empty winter road, saying, “His money is mine anyway, and you’re just an extra burden.” 😲 But at that moment, she couldn’t even imagine what awaited her upon her return home. 😱
After the funeral, the road seemed endless and alien. Expensive cars slowly left the cemetery one after another.
Alex stood by the fence, clutching a crushed flower in his hand. He was only ten years old. He didn’t yet fully understand what death was, but he felt all too well the emptiness that had suddenly settled inside.
His father had gone too quickly. Just a month ago, the doctors had talked about treatment, and ten days later, his heart simply stopped. That’s what the adults said. Alex didn’t have time to ask a single important question and didn’t understand how to move on. In that final moment, his father only squeezed his hand tightly and quietly whispered, “Forgive me, son.”
Victoria stood nearby. A widow in an expensive black suit, with a perfect hairstyle and a cold gaze. She had married his father two years ago, when Alex was still a child, and from the very beginning she had viewed him as an unnecessary detail in her life.
Now his father was gone, and the boy was left with a woman whose eyes held neither pity nor warmth.
After the cemetery, they got into the car. Victoria drove silently, without offering a word of comfort. Alex looked out the window, waiting for the familiar turnoff to the house, but the car had already left the city. An hour passed, then another. Finally, the SUV turned onto a narrow dirt road and stopped abruptly.
There were no houses or people around. Just an empty road.
“There’s a village there. Go straight ahead—you won’t die. I don’t need a burden; the entire inheritance will be mine anyway,” Victoria said, nodding toward the door.
Alex didn’t immediately understand what was happening. He got out of the car, still hoping it was a cruel joke. Victoria chuckled, slammed the door, and started the engine. The boy took a step forward, but the car was already turning around.
He stood and watched the black car disappear around the corner. He had no money, not even a phone. His father had been buried just an hour ago, and he himself had been abandoned on the side of the road, like an unwanted possession.
But when Victoria returned home a month later after a vacation with a friend, a real surprise awaited her. 😲😱
Victoria returned from a luxurious vacation tanned, happy, and confident. She drove up to the house she considered hers, but was stopped at the gate by security.
“You can’t come here, you’re nobody here anymore.”
Victoria laughed, not believing what she heard.
“What do you mean, nobody? I’m the mistress of this house. My husband left everything to me.”
The guard looked at her calmly.
“No. He left all his property to his son, whom you tried to get rid of, but fortunately, we found him. And since he’s still a minor, his guardian will handle all his finances.”
“Yes, that’s me,” Victoria said sharply.
“No. The guardian is Margarita.”
Victoria turned pale.
“Our housekeeper?”
“Yes, that’s right. Your late husband trusted her very much. Everything was written in his will. And I ask you to leave the house, otherwise I’ll have to call the police.”
“Didn’t my husband leave me anything?” Victoria hissed.
“Of course he did. He said you could take all the things you bought with his money during his lifetime.”
Victoria turned silently and left. No one saw her again.
