I went to the jewelry store to get the ring my husband had made… but I found him hugging a pregnant woman like they were real family. And that’s when I realized that my marriage was never real.

When I saw the name Adrian Delos Santos printed clearly on the order slip, my mind instantly filled with possibilities.

Could it just be a coincidence?

No. I dismissed that thought immediately.

Same name. Same high-end jewelry store in Makati. Custom-designed rings.

There was no way this was random.

The pregnant woman in front of me noticed my hesitation and smirked.

“So now you realize you were wrong, right? If you don’t apologize, you’re not leaving here.”

“I’ve already called my husband. He’s on his way.”

    My chest tightened.

    If… it really was him…

    What should I do?

Without thinking too much, I quietly slipped out of the store when no one was watching and walked quickly to a nearby café.

Minutes later, I saw a familiar Toyota Fortuner stop in front of the jewelry shop.

That same morning, Adrian had told me he was flying to Cebu for an urgent meeting.

    But now…

He stepped out of the car and rushed toward the pregnant woman, pulling her into a gentle embrace.

“I’m sorry I’m late,” he said softly. “Don’t be scared.”

His shirt collar was messy, like he had been in a hurry.

The woman clung to him, her eyes red.

“It’s okay… there was just someone causing trouble over the ring.”

“I said my husband was coming, and she suddenly ran off.”

Adrian’s face filled with concern as he checked on her.

“There are a lot of unstable people these days… especially targeting pregnant women. She didn’t hurt you, did she?”

She shook her head, whispered something, then rested her hand on her stomach.

Without hesitation, Adrian carried her into the car.

Before leaving, he said something to the man he had left behind—his best friend.

    Then they drove away.

I waited a moment before returning.

When I approached his friend, Marco, he looked sh0cked to see me.

“B–Bhabhi… when did you get here?”

I smiled faintly, my gaze cold.

    “You already know, don’t you?”

    He hesitated, clearly nervous.

    “What do you mean?”

    I looked straight at him.

    “The person you were helping…”

    “Yes…”

    I cut him off.

“Adrian had a ring made. You came to pick it up.”

    That was enough.

    Marco understood.

After a long silence, he said quietly,

“Adrian… he’s just having some fun outside. He didn’t want you to get hurt.”

    I didn’t reply.

    But my eyes burned.

    “Fun?”

The man I just saw—holding that woman like she was his entire world—

    That was just “fun”?

Even Marco knew how hollow that sounded.

    I didn’t push him further.

“Don’t tell him I was here.”

    Then I left.

I sat in my car for a long time, unmoving.

    No engine. No lights.

    Just… empty.

    Until the tears finally came.

    Eight years of marriage.

    I trusted Adrian completely.

I never once checked his phone.

    Maybe that’s why…

he was able to deceive me so easily.

    Everyone else seemed to know.

    Except me.

The only one living in the illusion of a “perfect marriage.”

    That night, I returned home.

    The silence felt cold.

I sat in the dark until midnight.

    Then Adrian walked in.

“Why didn’t you turn on the lights?”

    Suddenly, the lights came on.

He smiled like nothing had happened and placed a jewelry box in front of me.

“I had this made for you in Cebu. Do you like it?”

“I’ve been gone so long… you must have missed me.”

He leaned in to kiss me.

    I turned away.

    He froze.

    “What’s wrong?”

    I forced a smile.

“Nothing… you just smell like alcohol.”

He frowned, trying to explain, but I cut him off.

    “I’m tired. Go rest.”

That night, I made a decision.

    I ordered a GPS tracker.

When it arrived, I secretly attached it to his car.

The next day, he packed again.

“I have urgent work in Davao,” he said.

    I almost laughed.

I ran the company—I would know if there was an emergency.

    Still, I said nothing.

For three days, I barely slept, watching the tracker.

And then I saw the truth.

    He wasn’t in Davao.

He kept returning to the same condominium in BGC—

like it was his real home.

    That’s when I realized—

    This wasn’t a mistake.

This was a life he had built… without me.

At the office, I checked records I had never bothered to look at before.

    And I discovered everything.

    Liana—the woman—was his former assistant.

    They had shared accounts.

    Shared money.

    Shared a life.

And then I found something that destroyed the last piece of my illusion:

    Annulment papers.

    With my name on them.

    Claiming I was emotionally unstable.

    I laughed.

    Not because it was funny—

but because the lie was so absurd.

That night, Adrian came home like nothing had happened.

    But I had already decided:

    I wouldn’t cry.

    I wouldn’t beg.

And I wouldn’t let them rewrite the story.

The next day, I called a board meeting.

    Everyone was there.

    Adrian.

    Liana.

    Executives.

    Directors.

They had no idea what was coming.

    I began calmly.

    Then I pressed the remote.

    Photos appeared on the screen—

them together, holding hands, smiling, living a life behind my back.

    Gasps filled the room.

    Then came the financial records.

    The secret accounts.

    The stolen company funds.

No one could defend him anymore.

Finally, I revealed the last piece.

    “A DNA test,” I said.

    The child Liana carried…

    was not Adrian’s.

    Silence.

    Shock.

    Chaos.

The man who thought he controlled everything…

    had been deceived too.

Within an hour, Adrian was removed from his position.

    His accounts were frozen.

    His reputation destroyed.

As I walked out of the building, I heard shouting behind me—

    but I didn’t turn back.

Months later, I started over somewhere new.

    Peace finally found me.

I later heard Adrian was imprisoned for illegal activities…

and Liana had left him for the child’s real father.

Standing by the ocean one day, I finally smiled.

    Because I realized something simple:

I wasn’t the one who lost.

I was the one who was finally free—from a lie I had believed for far too long.
