Booked Two Seats for Comfort<\/strong><\/h2>\n


I travel often, and there\u2019s one problem I keep running into: I\u2019m bigger than the average passenger, and squeezing into a standard seat means I end up in someone else\u2019s space.<\/p>\n

So this time, I planned ahead. I bought two tickets\u2014one by the window and the seat right next to it\u2014so no one would feel cramped.<\/p>\n

I settled into my spot, buckled my seatbelt, and was just getting comfortable when a woman with a small child walked over. Without so much as a \u201cMay I?\u201d, she placed her child right in the empty seat beside me. \ud83d\ude32\ud83d\ude32<\/p>\n

The Unexpected Confrontation<\/strong><\/h2>\n


I politely told her that I had also paid for this seat and that I needed it for personal reasons.<\/p>\n

Her voice rose instantly.
\u2014 \u201cReally? You won\u2019t give up a seat for a child?!\u201d<\/p>\n

A few nearby passengers joined in:
\u2014 \u201cBut it\u2019s a child!\u201d<\/p>\n

I could feel the weight of judgmental eyes on me. But I knew I was in the right\u2014and I was about to make that very clear.<\/p>\n

Calling for Backup<\/strong><\/h2>\n


I pressed the call button and explained everything to the flight attendant. I handed over both my boarding passes and said calmly,<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease find another seat for this passenger, or I\u2019ll have to request the captain\u2019s presence and file an official report. Paid seats can\u2019t just be taken\u2014that\u2019s against airline policy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Things moved quickly after that. The senior crew came over, spoke briefly to the captain, and within minutes, the woman and her child were escorted off the plane. Apparently, this wasn\u2019t her first time trying this\u2014just the first time it hadn\u2019t worked.<\/p>\n

Peace at Last<\/strong><\/h2>\n


As the plane prepared for takeoff, the seat beside me stayed empty. A couple of people murmured apologies, while most just avoided my gaze.<\/p>\n
