A Long-Awaited Getaway<\/strong><\/h2>\n

My husband and I had talked about taking a vacation for years, but something always got in the way. Finally\u2014almost like a small miracle\u2014we found a few days free. We grabbed last-minute tickets, which meant we couldn\u2019t sit together on the plane. It didn\u2019t bother me much; what mattered was that we\u2019d soon be by the sea. Sitting apart for a couple of hours was no big deal.<\/p>\n

The Girl in Short Shorts<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As I walked down the aisle, I spotted my husband already in his seat. Next to him sat a young woman\u2014probably in her early twenties\u2014wearing cut-off denim shorts, bright red lipstick, and lashes that looked like tiny fans.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never been the jealous type, so I just smiled to myself. \u201cFine, let her sit there,\u201d<\/em> I thought.<\/p>\n

Crossing the Line<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Half an hour into the flight, though, her behavior started to feel a little too much. She leaned in close, whispered as if sharing secrets, and laughed at every word my husband said\u2014even though he only answered briefly. She brushed his hand \u201cby accident,\u201d asked him for water, and even had him reach for her bag.<\/p>\n

My husband stayed polite, but it was clear he wasn\u2019t interested. Everything would have been fine\u2014until she suddenly swung her long legs up onto the seat in front of her, practically in his face, like she wanted to make sure he noticed every curve.<\/p>\n

That was the last straw.<\/p>\n

A Cup of Coffee<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I stood up, cup of coffee in hand, and slowly made my way down the aisle. Reaching their row, I gave my husband a sweet smile and kissed him on the cheek. At the same moment, my hand \u201cslipped.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Oh\u2026 I\u2019m so sorry,<\/em> I whispered softly, as a hot drop of coffee landed right on her thigh.<\/p>\n

The Confrontation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

She shot up like she\u2019d been burned.
\u2014 Are you crazy?!<\/em> she shouted, her voice sharp enough to draw stares from nearby passengers. These are my brand-new shorts!<\/em><\/p>\n

I kept smiling, my tone still polite.
\u2014 Yes, I noticed the shorts. You\u2019ve been showing them off so enthusiastically the whole flight that it was impossible not to. Maybe now you can sit a little more properly?<\/em><\/p>\n

Peace at Last<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Her face flushed with frustration as she pulled a pair of sweatpants from her bag and stormed off to the restroom to change.<\/p>\n
