It had been a long, exhausting day at work. I was walking home when I noticed an old woman standing by a fence, clutching her chest and gasping for breath. Two large grocery bags rested at her feet. I went over and gently asked if she needed help.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you, dear,\u201d she said, her voice weak.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just came from the store\u2026 thought I could manage, but my heart\u2019s not what it used to be. It\u2019s not far and just down the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

I couldn\u2019t just walk away. I picked up her bags and walked beside her as she slowly made her way home, talking between breaths. She told me she lived alone and her husband had passed years ago, her children rarely called, and her small pension barely got her through the month.
