Barbara blinked.<\/p>\n

“Are you kicking me out?”<\/p>\n

“No. I’m setting a boundary. You betrayed my trust. You can visit her, but only when I invite you. If you ever touch her again, you’re out of our lives.”<\/p>\n

Barbara looked at the envelope as if it were poison.<\/p>\n

I stood up.<\/p>\n

“You don’t scare me anymore. I choose my daughter’s dignity over your approval.”<\/p>\n

That night, Madison hugged me and whispered,<\/p>\n

“Thank you for standing up for me.”<\/p>\n
