My daughter was only two years old when she first became fascinated with this. Our neighbors kept a real horse at home. For a little girl, it was a true miracle: she could spend hours next to this large, calm animal.<\/p>\n
She hugged her around the horse’s neck, pressed her cheek against its soft mane, and clapped her palms against its warm back.<\/p>\n
Sometimes they played together in the hayloft, and sometimes the daughter even fell asleep right in the hay next to the horse, as if it were her best friend.<\/p>\n
We laughed as we watched them, but deep down we sometimes worried\u2014after all, a horse is a large animal.<\/p>\n
However, from the very first encounters, it was clear: the horse was surprisingly intelligent and calm, as if it understood that before it was a child requiring special affection.<\/p>\n
This went on for months. Our daughter became increasingly drawn to the horse, and the neighbor’s favorite reciprocated her feelings. But one day, a neighbor knocked on our door.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to talk,\u201d he said as soon as he entered.<\/p>\n
“Did something happen? Did my daughter do something bad?” I asked worriedly.<\/p>\n
“No,” he shook his head.<\/p>\n
“But this concerns your daughter. You definitely need to take her to see a doctor.”<\/p>\n
My heart sank.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Why? Is something wrong?<\/p>\n
Then the neighbor explained that his horse, tamed and trained to sense changes in a person\u2019s health, had been behaving strangely around our daughter for the past few days.<\/p>\n
She stopped playing calmly, often sniffing the girl anxiously, as if trying to understand something, and sometimes even standing between her and the others, as if protecting her.<\/p>\n
At first we thought it was just the animal being cranky, but his words made us wary.<\/p>\n
We finally went to the doctor.<\/p>\n
But thanks to the early detection of the disease, the doctors were able to act proactively.<\/p>\n
Today, my daughter is alive and well. She still loves playing with the neighbor’s horse, and we look at this animal with immense gratitude.<\/p>\n
