She found him calmly standing in the living room, perfectly dressed in an Armani suit, slowly sipping espresso as if nothing unusual was happening. Clinging to his arm was Chloe St. James, a struggling actress better known for scandals than talent. Her slightly visible pregnancy was displayed like a prize.

“Arthur… what’s happening?” Elena asked as an officer began reading her legal rights.

Arthur placed his cup on the table and glanced briefly at his Patek Philippe watch.

“I’m sorry, Elena,” he said coolly. “An internal audit discovered twelve million dollars missing from the company’s charity foundation. As honorary director, you signed the transfer documents.”

“That’s impossible—I never signed anything!” Elena cried, suddenly realizing the scale of the trap. Documents Arthur had rushed her to sign over the years now made terrible sense.

Chloe smiled mockingly. “The signatures say otherwise. Arthur has a company to protect—and a new family coming. He needs someone younger… and more useful.”

As agents placed handcuffs on Elena, Arthur leaned close one last time.

Elena didn’t cry.

Magnus nodded slowly.

“Then Elena Vane must disappear,” he replied. “She was a trophy wife. You are my heir. And I will teach you how to hunt.”

For six months Elena vanished from public view.

He accepted without hesitation.

Arthur proudly addressed the crowd, Chloe on his arm wearing a massive diamond ring.

He gestured toward the staircase.

“Please welcome our investor.”

Music filled the room.

A woman appeared at the top of the stairs wearing a black velvet dress and rare yellow diamonds.

When the spotlight revealed her face, the room fell silent.

Arthur turned pale.

“Elena?” he whispered.

She stepped forward calmly.

“Elena Vane no longer exists,” she said. “My name is Margaret Sterling—daughter of Magnus Sterling. And I now control the debt that owns your company.”

The large screen behind Arthur suddenly changed.

Instead of the merger announcement, it displayed financial records.

“Here are the real transactions,” Elena explained. “The twelve million dollars you tried to blame on me… actually came from your own offshore accounts.”

The crowd erupted in shock.

Then another revelation appeared: evidence that Chloe’s child could not possibly be Arthur’s.

Chaos followed.

Arthur and Chloe began accusing each other as their lies collapsed.

Elena ended it coldly.

“Three minutes ago I activated the default clause in our investment agreement. Sterling Energy now owns eighty-five percent of your company. You’re fired, Arthur.”

Police entered the ballroom moments later.

Arthur was arrested for corporate fraud, forgery, and conspiracy.

As he was dragged away, he begged Elena for mercy.

She leaned close and whispered:

Arthur was serving a twenty-five-year federal prison sentence.

Her father entered the room.

Elena stood calmly.

“Let them in.”

Magnus paused before leaving.

“Are you happy?” he asked.

Elena considered the question.
