When I pushed open the door to Marcus’s private office and saw him cradling his lover’s baby, something inside me split open.

The infant’s cries bounced off the glass walls, blending with Olivia’s shaky laughter—the twenty-four-year-old assistant who’d been “working late” far too often.

Seven months pregnant, I froze where I stood, staring at the scene like it belonged to someone else’s life. I didn’t need confirmation anymore. I’d spent weeks piecing together clues, overhearing whispers, gathering evidence… but never—not even in my darkest suspicions—did I think he’d dare bring his mistress’s child into our company.

“Did you really think I wouldn’t notice?” I murmured, my voice steady in a way that startled even me. Marcus turned ashen, suddenly realizing he was no longer dealing with the obedient wife he believed he controlled. Olivia clutched the baby to her chest and lowered her eyes, saying nothing.

I didn’t cry. I didn’t scream. I couldn’t—not with my own son growing inside me. I simply turned away, carrying the weight of every truth I’d been holding… along with the certainty of what had to happen next. Marcus still didn’t know about the trap I’d set—the one that would shatter his world the way he’d shattered mine.
My heels clicked down the hallway toward the boardroom. He hurried after me, panicked. “Ariadna, wait—we can talk,” he stuttered.

    I didn’t stop.

I simply entered the meeting room, where the partners were gathered for the annual review. All eyes shifted to me. Marcus slipped in behind, breathless, on edge. And as the room fell silent, I delivered the line that would ignite everything.

“Before we begin… just a reminder: I own ninety percent of this company.”

Marcus’s expression collapsed in front of everyone.
And that was when the real storm began.
The silence thickened. Partners exchanged uneasy looks. Marcus tried to smile, but the twitch in his jaw betrayed him. It was the first time I’d ever seen his perfect façade fracture.
“That’s not relevant,” he said weakly.
“Oh, it’s extremely relevant,” I replied, taking my seat.

I withdrew a red folder—the one I’d been preparing for weeks. Contracts. Bank transfers. Screenshots. Photos. Proof of both his affair and his misuse of corporate funds to support Olivia. His eyes widened, finally understanding he had betrayed not only his pregnant wife, but also his majority shareholder.
“Marcus has been using company resources for unauthorized personal purposes,” I stated. The partners whispered among themselves. “And he’s compromised the firm’s integrity by engaging in an improper relationship with a subordinate.”

“That’s a lie,” he blurted, though his voice cracked.
“We have confirmation,” the finance director said, reviewing the documents I had given him the night before.
“You really thought I’d stay home decorating the nursery while you ran this place into the ground?” I asked. “You thought I was weak. That I’d never see the truth.”
Marcus moved toward me, but an associate held him back.
“I’m sorry,” I said calmly, “but your time here ends today.”
I called for a vote to remove him as CEO. With my 90% stake, the outcome was inevitable. Hands rose around the table—almost relieved. Marcus sagged in his chair as the consequences finally caught up.
Then Olivia appeared in the doorway, the baby wailing in her arms. “Marcus… we should go,” she whispered.
    Defeated, he followed her out.

For the first time in months, I exhaled.

    But my story wasn’t over.
That afternoon, after the legalities were settled, I entered the office Marcus and I had shared for years. I gathered my photos, my files—everything that truly belonged to me. Each item felt lighter, as though my life was quietly rearranging itself into something new.
I heard footsteps. Marcus stood there—not angry, not arrogant—just broken. Wrinkles in his suit, exhaustion etched into his face.

“Ariadne… please,” he said. “Tell me what I have to do so you won’t ruin me completely.”
I studied him, realizing the fury had drained from me. All that remained was clarity. “It’s over, Marcus. I didn’t do this to destroy you. I did it to protect myself. To protect our son.”
“Our son… will I get to see him?” he whispered.
“We’re not there yet,” I replied. “You’ll have to prove you’re capable of being a father. And that takes time.”
    He nodded slowly and left.

In the following weeks, the company flourished.

People felt safe—finally. I did too. I began therapy, prepared my home, surrounded myself with people who cared. Even before birth, my son was already reshaping my life.
Everyone thought the climax of my story was the betrayal. But they were wrong. My greatest victory wasn’t removing Marcus from power—it was finding myself after losing everything.
Sometimes something has to break for you to be reborn.

And now that you’ve reached the end…
    What would you have done?
Would you forgive him… or would you push even further?
I want to hear from my Spanish friends.
