I looked again.

It was definitely his SUV.

I walked away quietly.

I returned to our table and continued dinner with my daughter.

I did not ruin Chloe’s night.

I did not create a scene in front of strangers.

When we got home, I acted normal.

I hugged Chloe.

I helped her put away her things.

And when she finally fell asleep, I opened my laptop.
